Camille // Class of 2016

This past winter was a bit crazy for me. I was busy busting my butt in order to graduate. I did it. Magna Cum Laude, in fact. After graduation, I busted my butt to apply to countless jobs. I got rejected from countless jobs, but finally found one at an advertising agency downtown. Woo!

Even with a full time job, I am still drawn to photography. In fact, I need photography now more than ever. For me, photography is like my outlet, and while I love my new job, sitting at a desk is something I'm not used to and something I don't ever want to get used to. I need to get out, move, and create in my own way.

I am taking on senior clients this summer and fall, however, my availability is extremely limited. Time is more precious now more than ever, and so I want to be able to spend my free time having fun and doing what I love. I want to be able to shoot with people who understand my style and share my passion for the unconventional. I know my style isn't for everyone, and that I appeal to a certain type of senior girl. These girls need to be bold, vivacious thrill seekers. They need to want more than that one standard yearbook image. Instead, they want a collaborative, creative, and unique experience with images that go beyond the norms of the standard senior photo.

Camille is the epitome of that girl. What I appreciated about Camille was her assertiveness about the vision for her shoot. She knew exactly what she wanted, and had the style to back it up. During her shoot, I could sense something inside of her that almost reminded me of myself. Her relentless drive to succeed and stand out is something I was drawn to. I've loved watching her grow throughout her senior year, and wish her the best of luck in whatever she does!

I am now taking on clients for the class of 2017! I am also offering a discount for those who book for the months of May or June. Contact me for all the juicy details.

Abbie + David

I give Abbie and David the #MostArtsyCoupleAward

She's a dancer, model, and chef.

He's a photographer, artist, and all around craftsmen at his trade.

Together, they seek to adventure and create. Together, they find beauty wherever they go. Together, they create a life that is unapologetically vulnerable and full of love.

I am so drawn to love like this.

Their love is why I wanted to photograph such exquisite human beings.

This is what their love looks like.

Erika // Minneapolis Boudoir Photographer

Every photographer has their "word" when they shoot. Typically, mine is something like "beautiful!" or "ohmygosh, you're killing it!" While I always wholeheartedly mean everything I say, Erika in front of the camera brought on a whole other level of reaction from me.

GUUURL was my word during this shoot. Not girl, GIRL, or even GURL. GUUURL. I mean, c'mon. Look at her. No explanation necessary.

What made this shoot so successful is Erika's bold confidence. She's showcasing herself as an empowered, strong, and beautiful woman, something I truly admire her for. Not only is she confident in who she is, but her genuine joy for herself and her body is visible in every shot. It's easy to get caught up in the seriousness and drama of styled shoots, however, many models forget to have fun and show it off. Erika sure worked it. Maybe the 90s hip hop/r&b tunes we played had something to do with it, but I'd like to think it was her positive vibes that kept things groovin'.

This is how our shoot went:

Me: "Uhm, can I take a photo of your butt?"

Her: "Heck yeah!"

Her: *beautifully arches her back and sticks her butt out in the most tasteful way*

Me: "Dang guuurl."

I included this poem as the caption for the Facebook image, and I think it sums up this shoot and Erika's mantra in a nutshell:

"It's the fire in my eyes,
And the Flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally."

Colleen + James // Minneapolis Lifestyle Photographer

Colleen and James are like the rockstar creative couple of MPLS. She's quickly climbing to the top of MPLS' photo queen scene and he's a genius UX designer at a local agency. #DreamTeam

I've been lucky enough to assist Colleen at a few of her shoots and weddings. What I love about her is her calm and warm demeanor. She's genuine, easily likable, and talented, which is probably why she's killin' it at the photo game.

So when she told me she wanted me to take photos of her and her James at their new house, I was all in. Plus, they just adopted a new puppy, and who doesn't love puppies? As a duo, Colleen and James are electric. They're two people, so in love with each other and the world and people around them. They're the type of people all us photographers just dream of photographing because they're not only smokin' hot (and funny!), but also so willing to let us into their lives in order to create a compelling visual love story. Thanks, you two.

Check out her work here.

I am still booking for 2016! I'd love to meet with you, drink some wine, and talk about your love stories. Contact me here.
